Fly Fishing Morgan Run with The Troutmen

April 28th, 2010

Fly Fishing. Here is the final cut of the Fly Fishing Morgan Run Episode. This episode will be broken into two parts since I prefer to keep each movie under 10 min. I can only hold your attention for so long. Besides it takes me hours and hours in the editing room to produce a few minutes of final work. So for the sake of my sanity I will break this into two parts. I adjusted the music on this final cut since earlier versions felt too slow. I love the “how you like me now” track. Tell me what you think, I love all the responses I’ve received so far it keeps me motivated to make more! Enjoy!

Kayak Fishing

April 28th, 2010

I’ve fished all my life and because of a bad experience in a canoe in moving water decades ago, I’ve largely avoided any type of pointy nosed contraption that resembles a boat since then. I have since had huge bass boats, flat bottoms, water scamps, and just about every other type of fishing vessel you can name except anything shaped like a split banana that has to be paddled. Until I decided that on flat water, under absolutely ideal conditions my wife and daughter and I could benefit from some time together on small lakes in kayaks. But little did I know that once I sat in one of these addicting water slicers, I would never be the same, nor would my attitude be the same toward kayak fishing.

After a little practice moving a moderate size kayak around on flat water, most people should be able to start practicing a little fishing. At first, when learning how to maneuver in a kayak, not turning over when you sniff, and learning how to move front to back without upending, doing more than just learning to use the vessel is futile. But once you find yourself slicing through the water at surprising speed, you should be able to add a rod and reel and a small bit of tackle to just about any rig to undertake a little kayak fishing. Room in a kayak for this type of activity is the challenge and if you are used to fishing in anything larger with a motor, there is yet another learning curve.

The Pelican Kayak I started out with and still use sometimes was a great value in an entry level kayak. It was this boat that I used to cut my teeth on kayak fishing on the White River below Beaver Lake in Arkansas. This small trout river turned out to be just the environment to learn on with flat slow water that was not threatening to a neophyte kayaker like me. It gave me the opportunity to get used to my equipment and get confident with my handling of the boat. It was also the place I determined a bigger yak was in order if I was going to continue with my fishing adventures from these pointy contraptions.

After floating and successfully fishing in one of these small, pointy, treacherous looking vessels it is likely most people will want to go back for more. Such was the case for me. And I can’t really explain why, that if you have a larger boat, why you would bother, but there’s just something about it that takes you and makes you want more. And if people start out in a small Pelican like I did, which performed admirably, they are likely to soon want something bigger if they really are avid fishermen/women. A friend has a Heritage 14′ fishing kayak that is rigged to produce the nirvana of kayak fishing. Big, roomy, well rigged, comfortable, and stable but fast. My own choice was a Wilderness Ride 135, a big wide kayak with a pontoon hull that was not rigged for fishing. This just provides opportunities to completely customize a boat for the fisherman.

These big kayaks can be used to comfortably and effectively fish whole small lakes, trout rivers and streams, and coves and bays of large lakes. Today they can be rigged with just about anything imaginable to make successful kayak fishing easier. Fishing from them will likely be enhanced by having some prior knowledge of the water you intend to fish. Having fished various lakes and waterways in larger boats with electronics will give you knowledge of how, where, and how deep to fish without having all the contraptions of a bigger boat on board.

Finally, there is just something ultimately satisfying about catching a fish from a kayak. Because of what you do to get to and to catch a fish this way, catching one equals the thrill of catching several from a larger more sophisticated rig. And then there is the intangible part of this type of fishing. You load this vessel by hand into or on top of a vehicle. You carry it or use a special wheel set up to get it to the water. You load it with specially prepared tackle and supplies and use small, personal touches that you have invented just for you in your kayak. Then, you expertly slide back into the water and begin to paddle. At this point you are pursuing fish, but it’s not just about the fishing. It’s about the whole experience of kayak fishing.

Glow Sticks In Water, Longer Wavelengths Peter Out At Shallower Depths.

April 28th, 2010

Are you taking kids for a camping outing? Be sure to bring some glow sticks, which you can easily bend to get them lighted up. Besides as replacement for flashlight for illumination, glow sticks are a lot of fun to amuse the kids with at nighttime. You may tie glow necklaces to the tent’s ceiling when kids are ready for bed. The parents can attach a piece to the tent when kids are going to sleep, and then when parents are going to bed themselves, they can untie the glow stick and take it by the pillow. If the kids wake up during the night and see the glow necklaces, they can probably use the light to find their bedside toys.

Each glow sticks color has different brightness intensity and degree of water penetration. The more energetic colors penetrate deeper, while the longer wavelengths peter out at shallower depths. Red light glow necklaces is absorbed within 15 to 20 feet, while blue light will make it down as far as 200 feet or more, depending on the clarity and turbidity of the water.

In pet stores, you can find light up dog leashes and collars, which make it easy to locate your pet by keeping it visible. Glow necklaces can be used for the same functions. They are very light and easy to put on your pet(s). By being visible, your pet(s) can be seen well by bikes and vehicles passing by, and plus it’s more fun! But you should make the glow bracelets not easy for your pet(s) to bite.

Violet light glow sticks rays lose their punch quicker than blue rays. The colors in the order which disappear are, from first to last, red, green, blue, and purple. In group diving, assign a unique color glow stick to each diver to facilitate communication and coordination.

For hiking in the wild, a whistle, waterproof glow sticks and LED glow necklaces wands would help sending the signal for help in case you get disoriented.

Glow With Us specialize in providing all types of glow products for events and parties, including the fun glow cups and glowsticks. Visit glow necklaces for our popular necklaces and bracelets fro upcoming 4th of July celebrations!

Try A Fishing Float Tube And Discover A Superior Way To Fish

April 27th, 2010

Personally, there is little like relaxing in my fishing float tube catching rainbow trout on my favorite BC fly fishing lake. It’s better than my easy chair in my living room. Yes, belly boating changed into a mainstay of my fly fishing holiday or trips back in the late 1990’s when I traded my van in for a mini-van.

Belly sailing or float tubing is a completely new experience. The neatest thing is how relaxing it can be especially when you have the chance to anchor or drift. If you are lucky ( and most lakes in the Kamloops area are like this ) you will get to witness eagles, ospreys and waterfowl at a closer range because they are less bothered by your intrusion. Wildlife like bear, deer, moose or coyotes often come to waters edge to alleviate their thirst.

There are heaps of lakes through BC that are accommodating to a fishing float tube. To make the experience as delightful as practicable there are some considerations to study like access. Access to the lake and on to the lake are possibly most important factors when choosing your fishing body of water.

These are some critical factors when considering your belly sailing fishing trip. It is beneficial to be prepared when searching for float tube fishing locations. Please make sure to check the BC Freshwater Fishing laws before you head out to any lake, stream or river.

1. Prospects - I first judge whether I want a lot of fish or gigantic fish. The 2 are on occasion synonymous however I have learned not to stretch my expectations. I’d prefer to be shocked.

Personally, I have caught plenty of fish, so I relish in the prospects of catching gigantic fish, even if it means going to catch and release only lakes. The Kamloops Area and Roche Lake Area in BC have many lakes that have limited bag limits ( including catch and release only ). Usually these lakes have prize sized fish and are harder to catch. for the fisherman who loves to eat their catch, there are also many chances to catch many fish with some reasonable sized fish.

2. Access to the lake body - we are looking for a smooth, tapering launch. No sense in toiling through mud, rocks and sticks that may result in getting stuck in the mud with your fins or causing damage to your waders or tube. Another consideration is access to the shore from different parts of the lake. Looking after ‘personal business’ requires getting to a landing quickly and peeling down the waders. When the water is cold, this event can spring up on you swiftly.

3. Access to prime locations on the lake - the more small the lake the better. Float tubes aren’t known for their speed ( pontoon boats are faster ) so you need to get to the prime fishing spots ( shoals, drop-offs, weed beds ) as soon as possible .

four. Susceptibility to wind - Wind is the single most vexing factor for a fishing float tube. You don’t have the benefit of sitting high in a boat and casting distances can be significantly shorter. It is important to me to be ready to find some shelter from whatever direction the wind is blowing. Look for peculiar formed lakes with sheltered bays. Waves created by wind may also be a challenge when making an attempt to return to your automobile, so keep this in mind when wandering a great distance from your launch site.

five. Vehicle Access to the Lake - paved, gravel or 4×4. The good thing about a fishing float tube is that it can be easily let down enough to fit in an auto, automobile trunk or other two-wheel drive auto. Many of the lakes in the inside are quite accessible by 2 wheel drive autos. On the other hand, there aren’t any deficit of 4×4 or hike in lakes that are prepared to reward the venturesome.

Custom Boat Seats - Read This Before Ordering

April 26th, 2010

You may be planning to put new seats in an old boat, or maybe you want to modify existing seating. In both cases, it will make sense to address yourself to a custom boat seat manufacturer. Follow this guide to learn how to do it.

There are many different types of boat seats available, and the potential for customization is almost endless. The most important deliberation in making these kinds of choices are is the type of boat that you have, the space where you need to fit the seating, and what you will be using it for.

Get a list for the specifications that you need your seats to have and send them to several manufacturers, asking for a price quote. Make sure to put as many specs as you can in the request, and ask for their timing to build the boat seats too.

Once you have the replies, don’t only look at the price but also at how professional the reply was. You don’t want to take the cheapest offer only to find yourself stuck with an unprofessional manufacturer.

Not only should you make sure that the boat seat manufacturer has understood the exact size requirements of your order, but if at all possible he should also commit in writing to modifying the seats if the sizing turns out to be wrong.

If you order custom boat seats, there will be a wealth of details that you will need to decide upon, and it’s easy to get lost in the maze of options. Make sure that all the details follow the imperative of function, whether on style, material or color.

There are plenty of other important customizations available besides the fabric, the color and the style. For starters, Boat seats can come with or without armrests, and some are padded, others not.

Make sure that you specify how you want the padding to look like and whether you prefer fixed padding or removable cushions. Both have their pros and cons, id ultimately depends on the boat seat destination.

Boat seat materials are another very important point. If you are going to install the seats on a vintage yacht, for instance you will want the seating of the right material to fit with the rest of the boat. If you use wood on your boat seats, make sure that it had been pressure-treated

If your seats are made of or with steel, do ensure that there will be no protruding bolts or other parts that will make it uncomfortable for passengers o sit for a long time. You don’t want those boat seats to be painful seating.

Relax Yourselves With Fishing

April 25th, 2010

There are already millions of people around the world who have a serious interest in fishing. Whether you want to catch fish to eat or just want to try it out for the game of it, fishing can be a lot of fun. The most important fishing how to tips revolve around learning how to choose the right gear. This way you can get properly prepared before heading out on your adventure and that includes getting all the right fishing equipment.

Choosing a fishing rod is one of the most important but also most difficult decisions as a novice fisherman. Choosing a fishing rod can be an overwhelming experience if you have no idea what to look for. Especially if you are not even sure whether or not you are actually going to take a long-term interest in the sport, it is best to spend a bit less money at first. A couple things to consider when choosing your rod are how often you are going to go fishing and actually use the rod and what sort of fishing you will be doing.

There is no magical rod that is going to help you become an angling pro but with a quality rod you will be much more successful in your fishing endeavors. Now you need to focus on buying a tackle box and filling it up with some important goodies, namely lures. Waterproof rubber boots or even waders work the best and this way you do not have to worry so much about staying completely dry. Typically bright colors work well because these stand out to the fish and they can notice them from a far distance away.

Some fisherman prefer live bait while others stick to lures and although everyone has their own personal preference the live bait does tend to work best. It is always best to get a good selection of lures to keep in your tackle box, so you have at least a few to choose from when out on the water. Consider the size of fish you are going after because the larger fish you want to catch, the larger and more bait you will need. You also never know when a lure is going to rip or get lost in the water so it is always best to have a few extras on hand.

The next step, once you are all geared up, is to decide on the location where you want to fish. There are lots of great spots around the world you can head to. There is a lot of fishing how to that is helpful to learn before heading out anywhere to try and make the big catch. Anyone can get started fishing as long as they have the right gear and are fully prepared for the experience.

The top deal on the fishing would help you get the top fishing charters and you would glad to get that help.

Hook More Fish With These Lake Fishing Techniques

April 25th, 2010

Somebody feels puzzled that why of the many leisure sport activities today, fishing is perhaps the most relaxing and popular. The sea, flowing streams or rivers are some of the places where fishing can be done; however, lake fishing is the favorite among them all to most anglers. Lake fishing can be done in two ways - boat fishing and fishing from shore. The techniques involved in both these types of lake fishing differ from one another.

Boat fishing - delivers more effective results among these two types of lake fishing, and is also the more relaxing of the two. It includes fishing techniques like forward and reverse trolling, casting, drift fishing and using down riggers. Trolling is the preferred choice of most anglers when boat fishing, even though there are other techniques used to catch different species of fish. Trolling is when the boat moves forward slowly, pulling a single lure or several lures behind it. Reverse trolling is very similar to forward trolling; the only difference being that in reverse trolling, the boat moves in the opposite direction, and at a fairly slower pace.

Trolling motors are fitted to most boats, and because of their near-silent nature, anglers are able to traverse the lake silently and slowly without perturbing the fish. Anglers find it more convenient to cast lures in places most likely to have more fish present when using boats fitted with trolling motors. Lake fishing off a boat is a great way to catch fish; however, as hiring a boat is an expensive proposition, try hiring a pontoon boat or inflatable kayak instead. These options are quite effective and far less costly than traditional boats.

Shore fishing - eliminates the need to buy or hire a boat which is costly, and is therefore the preferred choice of anglers. Among the different techniques used for fishing from shorelines, the most popular one is ’still fishing’. This technique involves the fishing line fitted with hook/s attached with bait, floater (stopper) and a sinker. Above the hook/s and sinker is where the floater is secured, to avoid the possibility of the sinker moving down to the bait. Using multiple hooks for this rig is more effective than using just one as the bait will appear more natural to the fish. After casting this rig and giving it enough time to sink, the angler then reels in the slack line slowly to lure and catch fish.

Walking along a shoreline, while casting a number of lures at different places, is another lake fishing technique that is popular with most anglers. However, some shores have bushes which make it difficult for the angler to walk along the shore, so this technique may not always be possible. Lake fishing using these techniques is a wonderful way to enjoy a relaxed weekend.
