Bass Fishing - The Rising New Sport?

July 2nd, 2010

If you think bass fishing is nothing more than just a hobby or a skill you need to put food on the table, then you might be very wrong. It was an essential skill before, but currently many more are picking up bass fishing as a sport and are entering various competitions that promise high payouts in prizes for the winner. As such, it is no surprise that bass fishing have gain popularity across the world of late, whether in those watching it or participating, because after all, how difficult can bass fishing gets?

One of the main difference between a regular sport and bass fishing sport is that you will really have no idea exactly who you are competing with. There is no standard that you need to meet except your own; as such it is safe to say that you are your own biggest enemy. Think about it, there can be a thousand fishermen in a competition, and can you really pinpoint out who is going to be your main competitor? Most likely not, as such you are essentially trying to outdo yourself on every tournament and hope that you have landed the biggest fish among others. Before you even begin formulating plans on catching these fishes, you will need to know exactly where they hang out the most in order for the highest success rate.

The most common misconception about bass fishing is that the lures we use are essentially the same, and this is exactly what separates someone from bringing home thousands of dollar from someone who just brings enough bass fishes home for the coming week’s dinner. Knowing your lures is the first step to winning those fishes over! Bass fishing is more than a worm and a hook, knowing those different lures and the attraction it brings to those fishes is all part and parcel of the game.

After your basic gear setup, you’ll need some specific set of casting skills because bass tends to lump and congregate in difficult areas such as fallen logs, cover in the water. Being able to aim and cast to a specific area is a skill easy to learn but difficult to master.

That said, even casting in clear open water will need more than just normal casting, as what it does is that it will startle and scare the fishes away, being how unnatural the lure looks to them. Instead what you need to do is to cast further away and slowly reel the lure back into the school of fish that you intend to catch, as this will appear more natural in the eye of your prey. Overall, there are much more to master in this sport than it appears.

What Are Inland Beach Cottage Rentals?

March 15th, 2010

When many people, singles and families alike, think about booking a holiday, many of them would only consider going to the beach for a two week’s lounging on the beach under the sun and swimming in warm, blue sea.

However, many of the best, most famous beach locations are magnets for crowds of people. It seems that most people like the sand, the sea and the sun. Now some people go to these destinations precisely because they are busy. They like the crowds and the night clubs that appeal to them. Mainly singles go to these kinds of destinations and a holiday affair is not far from many peoples’ minds.

Couples and older people may prefer a little less noise, pollution and bustle. However, there are beaches which meet these demands too. Often they are private beaches. Some have hotels on them but some do not. Those that do not often have inland beach cottage rental properties instead. These are nearly always self-catering.

When most people think of a beach it is instinctively connected with the sea. However, this need not inevitably be so. There are also inland beaches on lakes and rivers. These beaches are usually referred to as inland beaches. Accommodation can be a problem with even some of the best inland beaches.

Many of these inland beaches are just not well-known enough to make a hotel commercially viable, but some of them have cottage rentals as an alternative. These cottages, or cabins sometimes, can be hard to find if you do not reserve early enough. They are frequently complete homes, fully equipped with all the household facilities you have grown used to: a fully furnished living room, multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and a contemporary kitchen.

Inland beach cottage rentals are popular because they are usually situated right on the water’s edge. This makes the bit of beach immediately in front of your cottage your private beach. You can sleep on it at night if it’s hot, lie there all day or set up a few fishing lines.

In the evenings, you can hitch up with neighbours to have a party or keep yourself to yourself. For this reason, it is a good thought to check photos of the cottage before you make a reservation.

If an inland beach cottage rental sounds just up your street, there are thousands to choose from in the United States and Canada. The Great Lakes are a particularly fine place to go. There are excellent locations in the Finger Lakes region of New York state and along Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

You will not be disappointed about going on holiday to an inland beach cottage rental property. There are so many variations that there is certainly something for every wallet and every family size. Singles are not so well catered for, but if you want a quiet holiday alone. maybe to study, then this might fitting be for you too.

You can fly into some of these resorts by seaplane, but it is more likely that you will take your own car or a rental car, if you want to get out and do some exploring further afield. Personally, I would rather hire a boat.
